Within AHRMM, he has served in a number of leadership roles, including two (2) terms on the Annual Conference Education Committee and one (1) term on the Issues & Legislative Committee. Mr. Goos is past president and past education committee chair of an AHRMM regional chapter in the Midwestern U.S., Additionally, Mr. Goos holds supply chain certifications including: CMRP (Certified Materials Resource Professional) as well has FAHRMM (Fellow Association for HealthCare Resource & Materials Management)
“When you receive your lifetime status, it’s such an honor, and you are among a small group of individuals who have also achieved this status,” said Ms. Michalski. “It reflects your dedication and commitment to continuing education in the healthcare supply chain, as well as affirms your professional journey and commitment to the betterment of healthcare.”
Mr. Goos is working on a new presentation on Understanding Value Analysis, which will be incorporated into the business planning process for Olympus Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) customers. “Value analysis is complex and lengthy,” said Mr. Goos. “The processes are intentionally bureaucratic involving a multidisciplinary approach to ensure IDN’s are optimizing cost, quality, and patient outcomes as it relates to product and services selection.” It is important for suppliers to thoroughly understand their customers Value Analysis process as it serves as the gateway to introduce new products and services.
As a respected leader in industry, Mr. Goos was recently invited to collaborate with a large IDN on developing a customized vendor scorecard. Mr. Goos explains that vendor scorecards are a means to evaluate and benchmark vendor performance, and they are used to facilitate meaningful collaboration between provider and supplier when conducting business reviews. According to Mr. Goos, use of vendor scorecards is gaining popularity and acceptance in the healthcare industry.
Mr. Goos adds, “It is an opportunity that creates open dialogue to better understand issues and opportunities facing both parties. Currently there are a few key IDN’s that have developed best practices relative to vendor scorecards. This practice, however, will begin to evolve throughout the Healthcare Supply Chain industry as a means of identifying suppliers delivering best practices.”
“I believe continued education and learning is extremely important in the rapidly changing and evolving healthcare industry,” said Mr. Goos. “Certification demonstrates a high level of proficiency and commitment in the Healthcare Supply Chain industry. Whether you are on the provider side or supplier side, it is important to have in-depth knowledge of supply chain and the pressures affecting healthcare in today’s environment, which include consolidation and cost.”
